Severe Toothache Pain Relief

The endless throbbing and fierce stabbing sensation of a severe toothache can stop you in your tracks and keep you from enjoying your life.  Everyone who suffers from a toothache prays for immediate relief, but actually, if the pain has already set in, it usually means that the damage has already been done. What is left for the sufferer to do is numb the pain, have a Redmond dentist extract the tooth, or decrease the amount of bacteria in the mouth, provide some severe toothache pain relief, and simply wait for the body’s natural immunities to kick in and help bring more and more relief to the problem tooth.

To truly prevent toothaches from ever occurring, one must follow strict habits of proper tooth care like daily brushing and flossing as well as a healthy diet that is low in sweets and acidic foods. But If are experiencing a toothache and want to numb the pain, below is a list of remedies that can help with toothache pain relief as well as help to destroy the bacteria causing your pain. Also, if your tooth is sensitive to the cold, bring the temperature of the liquid or herb (listed below) to room temperature.

  1. Salt Water: If you are experiencing pain in and/or on the gum line, this is likely due to the gum disease, Gingivitis. Gingivitis occurs when bacteria becomes trapped inside your gums. Swooshing salt water around the tooth in your mouth can help to relieve this type of toothache while simultaneously removing the bacteria that is usually the cause of the pain.
  2. Ginger: Chewing on ginger with the problem tooth is another way to bring relief to your aching pain. The natural juices found in ginger help to relieve tooth pain.
  3. Strengthen Immune System: A natural strengthening of your immune system can help to fight off pains caused by an infected tooth. Taking a pill that will give you an immune system boost can help your body naturally fight off infection. Even a good night’s rest can help to bring relief.
  4. Onion/Garlic: Onion and garlic naturally contain bacteria fighting chemicals that can bring relief to your painful tooth. Crushing and chewing these foods using the problem tooth can help ease the pain. You can also add salt to help destroy the bacteria that is causing the toothache.
  5. Wheat Grass: The chemicals found in wheat grass are known to draw out the toxins that live in your gums and teeth making it a perfect natural remedy for disinfecting and treating your problem tooth. To use wheat grass as an effective pain reliever, take the juice and use it as a mouthwash.
  6. Liquor: Applying a bit of liquor on a cotton swab and applying it to the area in need of relief is another method to helping with a toothache by numbing the problem area.

These techniques should not be seen as a replacement for medical treatment. Your Redmond family dentist will know the exact cause for your toothache and provide you with ways of never again experiencing the excruciating pains of a toothache. So, please view these treatment methods as temporary pain relievers as you await your dental visit.
